Expediated Dealer License Applications

The Dealer Licensing Section within the Bureau of Motor Vehicles is responsible for the issuance of Motor Vehicle Dealer and Motor Vehicle Salvage Dealer licenses. The Section strives to ensure that those licensed under Chapters 4517 and 4738 of the Ohio Revised Code and Chapters 4501:1-3 and 4501:1-4 of the Ohio Administrative Code meet and adhere to the specific rules and regulations listed regarding the operation of their business.

Ohio Administrative Code (OAC) 4501:1-3-06 provides a military provision relating to the processing of motor vehicle dealer applications. For any owner, partner, officer, member, trustee, principal owner or spouse thereof a veteran or member of the armed forces or a surviving spouse of a veteran or member of the armed forces that provides the proper documentation qualifies for an expedited application process.

For eligible military personnel and spouses that qualify, and indicate on the application their military status, processing time can be reduced by up to 2-4 weeks.
