During the month of September, which is Safe Driving Awareness Month, all BMV locations across the state will provide this palm card to newly-licensed drivers, encouraging them to take the pledge and commit to never text and drive.

This is the first time the campaign has partnered with state officials to reach newly-licensed drivers statewide, at that one moment when they may be most receptive to the message.

Robby Nowe's pledge to drive safely:
“I am a newly licensed driver in Powell, Ohio. I plan to do everything I can to be an extremely safe driver. I plan on doing this by never texting and driving, always following the speed limit, never driving past curfew, never driving with too many people in the car, and preventing myself from getting distracted by not doing things that will cause my driving to be impaired.”

New Drivers: E-mail us a photo of yourself with your car keys and tell us about your plan to drive safely!

As this quarter's "What's on Your Plate?" winner, Laurel Lewis will receive a decorative license plate with the personalization of their choice.

In 1957, Laurel’s grandmother registered her car in her name. The license plate she was assigned was VX 944. When Laurel’s grandmother stopped driving in late 1970, she asked her daughter, Laurel’s mother, to please continue to use the plate VX 944. When Laurel’s mother stopped driving two years ago, she asked Laurel is she would continue the mother/daughter tradition. Laurel retold the story to her 21 year-old daughter and before she had the chance to finish, her daughter (with tears in her eyes) asked if she too could continue the tradition someday. Every time Laurel sees her plate, she thinks of her mother and grandmother and takes comfort knowing her daughter will feel the same way someday.

Tell us about your personalized license plate! E-mail us a photo of you with your plate and tell us how you chose your plate's message. Plates must be current and valid. Winners selected quarterly.
