General Renewal Questions

How do I renew my IRP registration online?

You can renew your IRP registration online at www.ohcors.com.

Can I have my document sent via an express mail service?

No. Our processing center can receive express mail, however, the returned documents will not be returned by express mail. Express Mail should be sent to our physical address IRP Processing Center 2222 Dividend Dr. Columbus OH 43228.

Can I renew more than one vehicle online?

Yes. The renewal is fleet-based, so each vehicle in the fleet is included for the renewal.

Can I renew online if I don't currently have insurance for my motor vehicle?

No. The State of Ohio requires that each transaction include the Financial Responsibility Statement, and acknowledgement of insurance obligations, before they can move forward with the transaction.

Can I renew online if I don't have my renewal reminder notice?

Yes. Your account number and fleet number are what you will need to complete your renewal.

Can I renew online if my address is different from what is on the renewal notice?

Yes. You have the ability to update your account information as you complete your renewal transaction.

Can I reprint my cab card online?

No. However, online users have the ability to replace the cab card online. There is a $4.50 fee to do this replacement online and have it sent to you via regular mail.

Can I use the printable confirmation as proof of registration until I receive my credentials?

No. The confirmation is not sufficient for law enforcement requirements of registration.

Can my fleet renewal notice be sent to me via email?

No. At this time, renewal notices are sent each month by regular mail at least 60 days prior to the expiration date.

How do I cancel this online transaction?

Cancel options are provided throughout the online process. Please note, however, that if a Temporary Authority (TA) is issued the transaction cannot be cancelled. Contact the Ohio IRP Processing Center at 1-800-477-0007 if you have further questions.

How do I know if my transaction was successfully completed?

Once the transaction is complete, an email confirmation will be sent.

How early can I renew my registration?

You can renew your account 90 days prior to your expiration date if it is in good standing. If the account is NOT in good standing, please contact the IRP office for further instructions. The system will not allow you to proceed.

How long is my session active?

Each session will only remain active for 20 minutes when left idle.

How long will it take to receive my new credentials?

Please allow 7-10 business days from the payment date to receive your credentials via regular mail.

I received an error message reading, "This session was canceled or timed out." Why?

You may have experienced a loss of connectivity or left the session idle for more than 20 minutes. Try to log into the online system again. If the issue persists contact the Ohio IRP Processing Center at 1-800-477-0007.

I never received my renewal application. What do I do?

You may still process the renewal online or at one of the IRP locations using your account number and fleet. If you would still prefer to do a mail-in renewal, please contact the Ohio IRP Processing Center at 1-800-477-0007 to have a renewal application mailed to you.

If I don't plan to drive my vehicle, do I still have to renew the credentials?

No. Only vehicles that will be driven on the roadways require the yearly registration renewal.

Is it legal to operate my vehicle if my credentials have expired but I renewed online?

No. The credentials must be with the vehicle at all times.

May I renew my leased vehicle online?

Yes. A Power of Attorney may be required if the leasing company is not on file with the BMV. Please check the current list of leasing companies here

My credentials have expired. Can I still use this system?

Yes. A carrier can renew their fleet anytime within 12 months past their registration expiration and maintain the same license plate. Submit an affidavit of "non-use" stating why the vehicle was not renewed at the time of expiration in order to be invoiced for less than 12 months. The affidavit is located on the website under "Forms".

What address will my credentials be mailed to?

The credentials will be sent to the mailing address listed on the account at the time of payment. Two or more plates will be sent to the business address if the mailing address is a P. O. Box. Special shipping arrangements at the carrier's expense are available by contacting the Ohio IRP Processing Center directly at 1-800-477-0007.

What are the hours this system is available?

The system is available 24-hours a day unless otherwise announced for site maintenance. Announcements for maintenance will be posted within 72-hours of the occurrence.

What are the valid dates for the Schedule 2290?

The Form 2290, Heavy Highway Vehicle Use Tax Return, is valid from July 1 –June 30 each fiscal year.

What documents do I need to do my renewal online?

You may need:
• Proof of payment of Heavy Highway Vehicle Use Tax (IRS Form 2290- Schedule 1)
• Power of Attorney (POA)
• Proposed Statement of Estimated Distance (if estimates being used are not from the distance chart)
• Title (if new vehicle is being added or for an owner name change)
• Lease Agreement (if USDOT/TIN for the motor carrier responsible for safety is changing)

Who do I contact with questions about my online transaction?

Will I receive proof that the BMV processed my transaction?

Yes, once the payment is processed you will receive an email confirmation.

Changes to Information

Can I change my vehicle's GVW (gross vehicle weight) if I renew on-line?

Weight changes are allowed for those groups already existing on your account. Instructions on how to process a "renewal" transaction can be found on our website www.ohcors.com.

How do I add a vehicle to my account?

Instructions on how to process an "Add Vehicle" transaction can be found on our website www.ohcors.com.

How do I add another state to my account?

Instructions on how to process an "Add Jurisdiction" transaction can be found on our website www.ohcors.com.

How do I delete a vehicle from my account?

A vehicle can only be deleted from your account at renewal or when processing a plate transfer transaction. Please review the Carrier Manual posted on our website www.ohcors.com to get more information on this process.

I have changed my address since the last time I registered my vehicle. Can I still use this system?

Yes. You can update your address online during renewal. To update your address during the registration year, the IRP application must be submitted to the IRP Processing Center by mail or in person at any of our four locations. A list of the four IRP locations can be found here You can also contact the Ohio IRP Processing Center at 1-800-477-0007.

Information on my renewal application is incorrect. How do I correct it?

You can update your address, contact information and vehicle information online during renewal. Instructions on how to process a "renewal" transaction can be found on our website www.ohcors.com or by contacting the Ohio IRP Processing Center at 1-800-477-0007.

My registration has my registrant name(s) spelled incorrectly. How can I have this corrected?

Information Corrections are not processed online. The IRP application must be submitted to the IRP Processing Center by mail or in person at any of our four IRP locations. A list of our four IRP locations can be found here. You can also contact the Ohio IRP Processing Center at 1-800-477-0007 with any questions.

Fee Questions

Can I get a duplicate of my receipt?

Yes. A receipt will be emailed to you for your records. Duplicate requests for a receipt should be directed to the Ohio IRP Processing Center at 1-800-477-0007.

Can I use a debit card for payment?

Yes. The payment options available are credit card or debit card.

Does the BMV charge an added fee to use this online transaction?

No. The Ohio BMV does not charge additional fees for renewing online. Renewal fees are the same if you renew online, by mail or at a local deputy registrar. However, there will be a fee for postage on any transaction completed online, by telephone or by mail.

How will I know when my invoice payment been processed?

You will receive an email that confirms when the payment was processed.

How do I request a refund?

Submit your refund request to The Ohio IRP Processing Center. For additional information regarding refund requests please review the Ohio IRP Carrier Manual online at www.ohcors.com or contact the Ohio IRP Processing Center at 1-800-477-0007.

How is the vehicle registration fee determined?

The exact cost for your plate is not determined until your application has been processed and the fees calculated. On average, the cost for a vehicle operating at 80,000 pounds is between $1200 and $1600 for a full year plate.

Is this online transaction secure? How does the BMV protect my personal information? Will my credit card information be protected?

A: Yes. To ensure security for your transaction, you must use a Web browser with secure socket layer (SSL) capability. Several laws, including the Federal Driver Privacy Protection Act (DPPA), the Ohio DPPA (R.C. 4501.27), the Ohio Public Records Act (R.C. 149.43), and other statutes, rules, and regulations cover your registration information.

What forms of payment can I use?

Online payment can be made by credit card (MasterCard, Discover or American Express) or by debit card payment. Payments can also be made in person or by mail with check (unless otherwise noted on the invoice) or money order.

When a vehicle is added, are the fees pro-rated?

Yes. Registration fees are prorated by month.

Will I receive a receipt?

Yes. You will receive an email of your receipted transaction.

Will the information I provide be shared or sold?

The BMV does release information to government agencies, for vehicle safety recalls, to courts, for limited research purposes, to insurance companies, to towing companies, to private investigators, to CDL employers, and for other public safety purposes, all in accordance with the restrictions and limitations imposed by law.

Same Day Credentialing

What is same day credentialing?

Same day credentialing gives the carrier the ability to process a transaction online, submit the supporting documents and pay for the transaction. Upon payment the carrier will be emailed their Temporary Authority(s) TA(s) while the IRP office verifies the transaction and any supporting documents prior to releasing the permanent credential.

Is there an additional cost to do same day credentialing?

No. There is no addition cost.

Where do I go to do same day credentialing?

OHCORS website under the IRP Login icon.

Who can apply for same day credentialing?

Any IRP account that is in good standing can process a transaction online.

Are there any special documents needed for same day credentialing?

No additional documents are required to process a transaction.

Is same day credentialing eligible for staggered or biennial registration?

The staggered registration option is available for same day credentialing. However, due to the reporting and calculation of fees for Apportioned vehicles, this can only be done as a one year registration.

Is same day credentialing eligible for multi-year or permanent registration?

No. Due to the reporting and calculation of fees for Apportioned vehicles, this can only be done as a one year registration.

I paid the invoice but did not receive my Temporary Authority(s) TA(s)?

Check your Spam/Junk folders for your TA(s). If you’re still unable to retrieve your TA(s) contact the IRP Processing Center for assistance at 800-477-0007

How do I send required documents if I did not use the attachment feature?

What is a supporting document?

A supporting document is any document that is required to complete your transaction.
• Copy of the vehicle title
• Proof of payment of HVUT Schedule 1 form 2290
• Power of Attorney
• Statement of Proposed Estimated Mileage
• Motor carrier Lease Agreement

General Questions

Does it matter what browser I'm using?

Yes. To ensure security for your transaction, you must use a web browser with secure socket layer (SSL) capability.

How can I get a 45-day Temporary Authority?

The option to obtain a 45-day Temporary Authority is presented throughout the online process based on the transaction type.

How do I get a USDOT number?

The USDOT number can be issued and/or updated by FMCSA online at www.fmcsa.dot.gov or contact the Ohio IRP Processing Center at 1-800-477-0007 for the MCS-150 form.

My temporary authority expired, what can I do?

Contact the Ohio IRP Processing Center at 1-800-477-0007 for instructions on what is required to complete your Temporary Authority.

Transaction Questions

Can I renew my driver's license online?

No. The State of Ohio does not yet offer online driver's license renewals. Please visit your local Deputy Registrar's office for this service.

Can I request a different plate while renewing online?

Yes.

May I renew my non-apportioned commercial vehicle online or through the IVR (interactive voice response)?

No. The State of Ohio does not yet offer this service.

My license plates are damaged or lost. How can I replace them?

What should I do if my plates need to be replaced?

What vehicle registration transactions cannot be completed online?

The following transactions are NOT available using this online system:
• Unit Number changes
