Written Examination
Ohio Administrative Code Section 4501:1-1-08
An
applicant must pass a written test that is given in two parts and covers Ohio motor
vehicle regulations and traffic signs.
A.
Motor Vehicle Regulations Portion of Written Test
Minimum
of 20 multiple choice questions equally weighted
Must
correctly answer 75% or 15 questions to pass this portion of the test.
Questions
cover:
Motor
vehicle laws;
Rules
of the road pertaining to safety;
Regulations
of the B.M.V. as prescribed by the director of public safety.
B. Traffic Signs
Portion of Written Test
Minimum
of 20 multiple choice questions equally weighted
Must
correctly answer 75% or 15 questions to pass this portion of the test.
Questions
cover:
Highway
warnings and traffic signs
Signaling
devices and directions given in the English language.
C. Reference Document for
test material.
"Digest of Motor
Vehicle Laws" which can be obtained at any Deputy Registrar office.

D. CDL Written Test
Minimum of 50 questions
equally weighted
Must correctly answer
80% or 40 questions to pass this portion of the test.
