Dealer primarily engaged in the business of selling new motorcycles, and incidentally selling used motor vehicles.

• Must have space under roof for the display of at least one new motorcycle.

• Must have space under roof for the servicing and repair of at least one new motor vehicle.

• Must have a permanent sign in the exact business name, including any registered trade names, with letters at least six-inches high.

• A new motorcycle dealership shall be considered used exclusively for the purpose of dealing in motor vehicles even though personal watercraft (i.e. jet-skis) are displayed and sold from the same property, as long as the personal watercraft are separated from the new motorcycle dealership.

• The separation shall be constructed of a permanent physical barrier that is consistent with the Ohio Administrative Rule 4501:1-3-08 (E).

• The separate area for the personal watercraft, whether inside or outside, is NOT directly accessible to customers or employees from the new motorcycle dealership.

• There shall be separate access to the personal watercraft display area.

• Physical Requirements Checklist

• Form BMV 4320 - application must be completed and notarized.

• Financial statement information, indicating a net worth of at least $10,000.

• Photograph of the lot, sign, and office at the business location.

• BMV Form 4452 (Instructions Only) - Civilian Identification Card must be completed by the applicant's local police department and the waiver must be signed by the applicant. The civilian identification card will be forwarded to the Bureau of Criminal Investigation & Identification for a state-wide record check.  Acceptable fingerprint card(s) may be obtained only by contacting the Dealer Licensing Section at (614) 752-7634.
  
  *Fingerprinting option: In lieu of submitting a fingerprint card and $15.00 fee you may elect to visit one of the Bureau of Motor Vehicles Regional Service Centers,  National Background Check, Incorporated or Secure Check, Incorporated facilities and have your prints electronically scanned.

• Form BMV 4319 - Manufacturer/Distributor Statement of Contract. Must be completed by the manufacturer or distributor and the dealer.

Any felony conviction or any misdemeanor conviction related to dealing in motor vehicles is reason for the Bureau of Motor Vehicles to DENY the application.                                                          

Dealers are required to purchase at least one dealer plate.

An on-site inspection of the premises will be conducted by a BMV investigator to determine if the location meets all physical requirements. Once a license is issued, the dealership is subject to random inspections, including pertinent records, to confirm that compliance is being maintained.
